Give your kiddo a squeeze today, and tell them you love them:)

I have been looking forward to this very day for, well, a good long week. So here it is, and here it goes, and here it is almost gone. Today was destined to be a glorious day...there would be sleeping, eating, and Christmas shopping. All three have been accomplished, and now my husband is busy building with my father-in-law, and my snoring two-year-old is napping on the couch. So, what happens when your are all alone...you think. So this is where my thoughts have brought me...

Our first "shopping" stop this morning was Lifeway Christian Bookstore, then Ross. My time spent in Ross was disappointing. You see, I couldn't tear my ears away from an impatient mother yelling at her what appeared to be 4 and...we'll say 10 year old boys. She was desperately trying to look at clothing racks, and her youngest desperately wanted her attention. What do children do when they want/need attention, yet don't get it? They act silly (among other things). So the belittling began..."get over here!"..."I can't take you anywhere!"..."you better...!"

Jackson and I checked out and went on out to the car. While waiting for my mother-in-law, this family of three entered our lives once again. We saw them walk out of Ross, the mother with her purse in one hand...and...well, nothing in her other. Hurrying behind her was the 10 year old, struggling to hold the hand of his little brother. Cars were pulling out and driving all around them. The mother walked around and got into the driver seat of her large SUV. Again, the older brother trying to lift the 4 year old into the car...mission accomplished. The 10 year old jumps in the front seat, and the mother speeds away. There is no doubt the children hadn't the time to buckle up. So sad. Missing the point. Life flying right by her.

I sometimes wish my heart would let things go. I find myself wanting to take EVERY child home with me that doesn't appear to receive the love they deserve from their parents.

Now, all you moms that check my blog...I know what you must be thinking. Listen here lady, we can't all be patient and kind ALL the time! I know, I know...I'm not perfect either. However, we have all witnessed this puplic scene at some point, and felf that awkward feeling inside. Helplessness.

Parents love you kiddos...be patient...don't expect your 4 year old to act 10, or even 15. Expect them to act 4.

Don't worry, the next post will be a photo session...I don't mean to be a downer, just had this on my mind:)
